The Serpentine Spine
LIMITED
Friday July 24, 2026 10:00am - 11:30am EDT
Limited Capacity seats available
Serpentine movements help us move in whole body patterns so that every section of the body awakens in relation to the central axis. In this class, we will follow a consistent natural flow of postures working with wave patterns of movement, breath, and mind to facilitate a feeling of openness, elongation, and strength in the entire spine as a means of awakening internal energy and organic rhythms of intelligence that keep movements integrated, free, and joyful.

In this class, we will explore details of the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series to find awareness in its transitions alongside new alignment and depth in old poses. Mindfulness of the breath will be used to bring awareness of the brilliant core of the body out within the forms of the postures. Through the continuous joining and separating of masculine and feminine movements and energy in both the breathing patterns and the structures of the poses, fine detail becomes natural, and the practice becomes easy. Breath and body can learn to move together with continuous alignment, eventually manifesting in a natural movement into the central axis. When this happens, prana and apana naturally and organically interpenetrate all throughout the body. In this class, working with the wave patterns of movement, we will find pathways of awareness which bring forth the joyous blossoming and interpenetrating nature of body, breath, heart, and mind.
